Rolf - A party game for creatives, geeks and Nerdfighters

Created by Robert Burke

Rolf is a quick and simple-to-learn party game designed by Robert Burke and co-published with DFTBA Games. The point of the game is to be quicker, wittier, and funnier than the other people playing. That's how you win! But even those who don't win still get to enjoy just how quick, witty, and funny you are. So it's really win-win. Our hope is that Rolf will contribute to reducing world suck by providing a fun, simple framework that brings people together for social interaction, and laughter.

Pre-production copy of Rolf!
over 6 years ago – Fri, Oct 27, 2017 at 04:49:30 PM

Dear Backers,

The factory has the first pre-production copy of Rolf put together. It's looking really good! Manufacturing should be done by the end of November as long as things keep going well!

Here's a link to the images they sent: Rolf pre-production PDF

Also, we have decided to use Backerkit to do our surveys, it will make it easier for address changes, and allow us to handle add-ons. I will send an update when we are close to sending it out, which should be a week or two.

Thanks!

Robert

New improved box design
over 6 years ago – Mon, Oct 02, 2017 at 08:13:26 PM

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to share the new improved box design we had done for Rolf. It's decluttered, simply, more consistent and has a pop art vibe. I love it!

Hope you do to!

Thank you!

Dear Backers,

Because of you, Rolf is fully funded with almost $80,000!

Holy cow!

Since we over-funded by more that 300% I will be adding 25 more cards to the game for a total of 250 cards, each with 2 phrases. I will use your suggestions as much as possible, and would like to give extra thanks to everyone who sent in phrase suggestions!

I will have the spreadsheets updated by the end of next week and will share them with you so you can see all the text that will be on the cards, and hopefully provide some final proof-reading.

The graphic design is already done, so we just need to run the new text through indesign, and get the credits into the rulebook.  We should have the files to the printer before October gets here. I will keep you up-to-date every step of the way.

One more thing, a pet peeve of mine in games that include writing is the lack of having a pencil sharpener handy when the pencils go dull. So as an added "thank you" I will also be adding a pencil sharpener to the box.

It's a small thing, but it's a promise I've made to myself every time I find myself trying to sharpen a pencil with my fingernails in order to play a game. Oh... and don't get me started on dry-erase markers. I hate them, so no, I won't be using them. They make a mess, and have no shelf life because they dry out quickly. I can't tell you how many times I've pulled out a great game like Wits and Wagers excited to play, only to have the session killed by dried up, useless dry-erase markers.

Nope. It's old school pencils for me. So be careful kids. No horseplay, you'll poke your eye out!

Many thanks to Hank & Eric from DFTBA, Games, our graphic designers Amanda & Luis, and Matt & Aaron from Beer & Boardgames, it's been a fantastic project, now it's my job to deliver you a fantastic product in an efficient manner, and I plan to do just that!

Thanks again everyone, and Don't Forget To Be Awesome!

200% Funded! We are adding more cards!
over 6 years ago – Mon, Aug 28, 2017 at 12:00:29 PM

Dear Backers,

Thanks to you, we are now 200% funded!

Since we have made twice our original goal, we are increasing the card count in the base game from 210, to 225 cards! I will get working on these ASAP to make sure we are still ready to go when the project closes.

If you have any ideas for the new cards, please comment here!

We are not really fans of listing stretch goals as a way to pressure our backers to doing more. You have already done enough by supporting us so we can make this game!

We truly appreciate your support, and will improve and/or add to the product as we can. We want to make the best product we can, thanks for enabling us to do that!
